Ooo Treasure! by Butterfly-Kitsune Ooo Treasure! by Butterfly-Kitsune
Griffin art doll I made a little while ago. I forgot to post it here! He is currently for sale on my etsy among other cuties. This adorable griffin is entirely hand made! The face and paws were sculpted then hand painted. The body was hand sewn and feathers individually placed. No casts or molds or patterns were used. Hes fully poseable and soft! He stands about 6 inches high and is 10 inches long. www.etsy.com/listing/192742626…

Thank you for taking a look!
Please do not steal or use my art it belongs to me

I misplaced your cards and wasn't sure if I'd find you, but I did eventually.

I'm trying to make a similar little guy to decorate my graduation cap and keep him company. I've made the head and feet but haven't cooked them yet. Can I ask how you attached the clay parts to the wire frame?

Tel your mom hi and thank you, and the same to you. I love him so much!

Hiii! Good to hear from you!!

Thank you so much again! Im glad you found me c:

 Are you graduating? Congrats!

For that griffins feet I made holes in the clay at the back of the feet. About an inch or so deep and double the thickness of whatever wire your using. I fill the hole with hot glue after its cooked and twist the wire into the hole before the glue dries.

The feet are still fragile however with this method, so just make sure whenever your posing your critter your only bending the wire or lightly holding the foot.

I hope that helps! You can send me note too with any other questions you have c: Id love to see your creation when its done!

Yup. So excited! :D

Cool, would super glue be effective? I don't have easy access to hot glue.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way when one of Storm's paws had that issue. Not to big of one, as I mostly use him for display, but still unfortunate.

Thanks so much! Would it be aright if I take a picture of her with Storm and post with credit? She'll be less realistic, and I'd love to show off the inspiration to! Could you maybe point me towards a good place to buy fur?

Fantastic!

If its a thick super glue like E6000 I think your good. Worth Experiementing though !

Oh no! Yea its tricky with clay. If you use molds and cast paws using stronger materials its more durable. (but it can also be expensive)

Not a problem! Of course! That would be awesome. As for fabric theres a couple places. Michaels has small sheets of fun fur sometimes. Its good for smaller stuff. Joanns may have some but rarely and its usually bad quality. If you have a Hancock Fabrics that place is awesome. They have a good selection and there are often sales. Fabric.com has more variety but can be expensive.  But most faux fur averages around 30-38 bucks a yard. Always search online to see if the store has any coupons.
Hope that helps c:

Cool, thanks!
Okay, thanks. Might have to make do with what I have though, it's hard for me to find the money to shop.

Do you have anything you do the wire to make it not poke through the cloth? Oh, and on Stormy I've been wondering how you gothis little tufts around the paws, the only things I can figure is that you either had longer fur you gave a uzzcut to the rest of, are REALLY good at hiding seams, or found some really interesting cloth to do him with

Just wrap the wire with some batting. It also helps to fatten it up. You could also glue foam to it. As for the paws  your correct I took a long fur and trimmed it short c:
